The wheel is off

Right side wheel well with the tire off.

Here is my best attempt at documenting the largest car repair project I have ever undertaken.
I started out with a 1985 300D. The guy I bought it from had worn the right front brake pads down to the metal. S0, I knew I'd have to change brake pads at the very least...and possibly the rotors. So, I changed the brake pads. I had done front disc brake pads once before. Easy stuff. However when I changed the pads I damaged the rubber gasget that fits around the caliper piston because it was so old and brittle (rubber). There was another problem I discovered after I had already ordered a caliper rebuild kit from www.autohausaz.com. A piece of one of the pistons had actually broken off and was just being held in by the brittle gasget. So, I made one more order to www.autohausaz.com for 2 calipers. I figured that I might as well just do them both. Seemed like the right thing to do.
So, this blog starts off with the removal of the wheel, caliper and rotor/hub...
Ok, so everyone knows how to take off the tire, right? If you don't know how to change a tire. You might want to stop here. So here's what it looks like with the wheel off.
